Tahnee Ahtone, a citizen of the Muscogee Nation, is a museum director, curator, and scholar of material culture, art, and textiles.
Ahtone is a leading authority in Native American art and museum practice, with more than twenty years of experience in museums, galleries, and project spaces across the United States, Canada, and Europe. She is the Curator of Native American Art at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri. As a writer, she contributes to First American Art Magazine, American Indian Culture and Research Journal, and Hyperallergic. Ahtone was honored by the Oklahoma Museum Association with the 2019 Service to the Museum Profession Award. She was a 2020 participant in the Association for Art Museum Curators’ Mentorship Program and a 2021 Fellow at the Center for Curatorial Leadership.
